WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A meeting of the Directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was held yesterday . There were present: Messrs J. H. Pauling (chairman), W. Sellar, G. Heron, D. McLachlan, J.B. McKenzie, T. Wyeth, R. Fraser T. P. Lett, A. Turner, A. McLeod, G. Stewart, E. 11. Waddington and J. C. McKillop. The secretary submitted the following financial statement: Cr. balance at end of last year, <£3B Is 2u; receipts to date, £549 14s 4d; expenditure, £537 13s 4d; cheques outstanding, 10s; cr. balance in bank, £3O 12s 3d. A letter was received from the secretary of the Scottish and Skye Terrier Club of Mew Zealand, asking for a donation to their prize fund. , The letter was received. The Town Clerk wrote stating that the Borough Council had decided not to allow intoxicating liquor to be sold in the Park in future. The secretaries of the Seddon Memorial Technical School Fund wrote stating that a deputation would wait on the Society with reference to obtaining a grant towards the fund. The President stated that he had intimated to the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Fund that the matter of a donation to the School Fund would be discussed without the formality of receiving a deputation. After a discussion, Mr Heron moved, and Mr McKenzie seconded, "That the Society could not see its way to contribute to the proposed Technical School, as they considered that the matter thoulcl be relegated to the consideration of individual members, many of whom had already contributed." Mr Waddington moved, as an amendment, and Mr Lett seconded, that the Society make a donation of £•5 5s to the fund. The amendment was carried by seven votes to four. The secretary submitted a statement which showed that rhe expenditure in connection with the recent Ingleside had amounted to £l6 2s 6d, as against £ls 3s Gd in connection with a similar gathering held in 1905. The former amount together with other accounts amounting to £8 was passed for payrcunt. On the motion of Mr Sellar, seconded by Mr McKenzie, it was decided to hold another Ingleside at a date to be fix«d, a charge to be made for admission to cover expenses. A committee was appointed to arrange details in connection with the Ingleside. A vote of thanks was acrorded to Messrs Sellar and Hunn for the manner in which they had supervised the musical programme at the recent Ingleside. Mr J. B. McKenzie was also accorded a vote of thanks for his gift to the Society of an enlarged photograph of the Society's late honorary piper, Mr R. Mathc-son. The following new members were elected: —Messrs A. McLachlan, J. W. Cochrane, J. James, Neil McLaren, H. Cameron, W. L. Carrick, J. Mcintosh, J. Clune,_J. Miller, W. Armstrong, 11. Lain? ard J. Donald.
