MOROCCO.
THE' CAPTURE OF KAID /MACLEAN. Received July S, 8.32 a.m. MOROCCO, July 7. Particulars of the capture of Kaid MrcLean by the chief Raisuli*show that negotiations had been going on, but owing to the preposterous natu~e of Raisuli's demands these at first failed. Sir Harry Mat-Lean returned to Fez. Raisuli then wrote expressing regret and intimating that he was prejpared to accept the Sultan's terms. At a second interview, at Alcazar, Sir Harry Mac Lean neglected to enlist the assistance of two tribes whi:h h3d previously guaranteed the security of the negotiations. Almost alone, Sir Harry Mac Lean proceeded to the spot appointed, and finding Raisuli attended by a large band, was powerless to refuse an invitation to proceed further into the mountains. • . Received July 8, 10.59 p.m. MOROCCO, July 8. The authorities are asking Zelaed, chief of the Benitsowar tribe, and formerly Raisuli's lieutenant, to<use his moral influence with Raisuli or force him to release Kaid Mac Lean.
