Charles Ennis pleaded guilty to a charge of theft of a pair of boots, valued at 10s 6d, the property of R. Hannah and Co.. on July 3rd, and was fined £1 in default seven days' imprisonment. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in each of the following debt cases:—Jas. Wickens and Co. v. William Summers, claim £7 3s 4d, costs 10s; E. Revnolds and Co., Ltd., v. Mrs W. A. Cook, claim £3 2s 6d, costs 10s; same v. W. A. Cook, claim 17s 6d, costs ss; F. E. Vibert v. J. Blade, claim 10s, costs ss; Harold Sinclair v. William Symons, claim £ll 01s, costs £1 10s 6d; Augustine Stempav. Samuel Burton, claim £3 14s, 7d, costs 10s; W. F. Shaw, v. William Grantham, claim £2 7s Bd, costs ss; same v. James Braggins, claim £1 5s 4d costs ss.

In the judgment summons cases of Thomas Hounslow v. Richard Carroll and Pinhey Bros v. Michael Scalley, claims for £7 6s lid and £2 8s 7d, respectively, there was no appearance of either defendant, both of whom were ordered to pay forthwith in default seven days' imprisonment. The orders were suspended for fourteen days. Moana Paratene claimed from Albert Jones the sum of £7 15s for chaff sold to defendant. Mr B. J. Dolan, who appeared for the plaintiff, stated that defendant purchased £ls worth of chaff from the plaintiff on March 20th last, and from this amount plaintiff deducted £7 5s for cartage. The amount for cartage was disputed, defendant alleging that it should be £lO 10s. Defendant also set off £1 for breaking in a horse and 15s for cab hire against the claim. After hearing evidence the Magistrate gave judgment for plaintiff for £6 10s.

A claim was made by Stareos Azaie against Victor Furie for £4, the price of a suit of clothes. Plaintiff stated that he had sold the clothes to the defendant, who had previously worked for him and who had promised tp pay him at Carterton. The defence was that the suit had been paid i'or. The Magistrate said it was impossible to say whether the money had been paid or not, and nonsuited the plaintiff without costs. Mr C. A. Pownall appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr B. J. Dolan for the defendant.

Alice J. Little claimed from Mrs Infield the sum of 16s, being 8s for wages due and 8s in" lieu of notice. Judgment was given for Bs. which amount had been paid into Court.
