STOCK MARKET.
Mr W. Rose reports as follows:—• During the past fortnight I have held the following sales: — Saturday, June 22nd, Dannevirke horse sale: An entry of about 40 horses came forward, the majority being light harness horses and hacks. As usual at this time of the year the market was very dull, although the majority changed hands at prices greatly in favour of buyers. Monday, June 24th,Norsewood stock sale: A moderate entry came forward and practically every line changed hands. Ewes in lamb brought 14s 9d. fat cows £4 ss, weaners 15s, store cows £2, cows in calf £3 to £5. Friday, June 28th, Dannevirke stock sale: A large entry of sheep cattle and pigs came forward. During the sale, bidding was very dull, but I did considerable business privately after the sale, including the sale of the large line of bullocks. I quote as follows: —Sheep: Ewes in lamb 14s to 15s 6d, hoggets 13s, fat ewes 15s 3d to 16s. Cattle: 4-year-old bullocks £5, fat cows £4 to £4 10s, 18month steers and heifers £2 to £2 ss, cows with calves at foot £1 15s to £2, cows just calved £5. Pigs—Porkers 28s 6d, weaners 9s 6d.
