BIBLE IN SCHOOLS.

At a meeting of the Oamaru North School Committee ajcircular was read from the Wellington Citizens' Bible-in-Shcools Committee, asking for an expression of opinion upon the question of the Bible reading in schools as a classic, the State school teachers only to supervise the reading. After discussion it was resolved —'"That the committee cannot support the proposal as submitted in the ; circular, because it limits the reading of the Bible to supervision under State teachers, and excludes ministers who are better qualified, and who have for years given Bible instruction in their school with distinct advantages; at the same time, this committee will readily support any proposal to take a plebiscite of the people of the colony upon the general question, g
