FREE ART GALLERY.
■<■»" By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 12. The opening of the Free Art Gallery at what has hitherto been known as the Academy of Fine Arts, in Whitmore Street, took plaoe to-day. Pictures purchased at the Exhibition form an important feature of the display that is made. It is proposed, in the future, by arrangement, between the Academy and the City Council, to keep the Gallery open, free of charge, on two days in the week, and on the first Sunday in each month. Forty pictures are now on the walls, and it is hoped they will form the nucleus of a larger collection.
