STOCK MARKET.
Mr W. Rose reports as follows: During the past fortnight I have held the following sales—May 6th, Takapau sale —There wan a good yarding of sheep and a fair one of cattle. The sale was well 'attended, and the competition for sheep of all classes as keen throughout, every line, changing hands under the hammer at the following prices: Fat ewes lis 6d to 13s Cd, lambs (good) 12s 4d, others 6s to 8s lid, ewes in lamb 10s 4d to 14s Cd. Cattle: Fat cows £4, empty heifers 80s. Horses: Hacks £l2 and £lO. May 11th, Dannevirke 'Horse Sale. —I had an entry of about 80 horses; amongst ;hem were some good sorts of light draughts, for which there was plenty of competition. I quote as fol lc vvs:—Team of four horses, together with waggon and harness, .£l4O, heavy draughts £35 to £42, light draughts £2O to £35, unbroken colts and fillies £l3 to £lB, hacks £6 10a to £lO. May 17th, Dannevirke Stock Sale. —There was a large entry of sheep and a fair one of cattle, the former finding a very ready sale at prices in advance of a fortnight ago, every line that'was entered changing hands at the following prices:—Sheep: Fat and forward ewes 163 Id, empty ewes 12s 7d, hoggets 13s Id to 14s, ewes in lambs 10s 4d to 14s Cd, 2 tooth wethers 14s 3d. Cattle: Fat bullocks £7, fat cows £3 7d to £4, 2% year old steers £3 13s to £4 13s, 15 to 18 month heifers 22s to 245, weaners 225. Pigs: Wean res 9s Cd to 12s.
