THE RECENT FLOOD.

- DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AT LANSDOWNE. v Mr F. C. Morton, Lansdowne, wrote to the Masterton County Council, yesterday, drawing the Council's attention to the fact that during the flood on May Ist his property, and also the adjoining properties, was flooded by the overflowing of the creek which carries the surplus water away from the Lansdowie dam. The flood water came within a few inches of his house. He asked the Council to take some steps in the matter. A letter was also received from Mr G. A. Jones, Lansdowne, asking the Council to take steps to present the overflow of the water from the Hospital drain during heavy rain. Another resident of Lansdowne, Mr Chas. Ross, wrote drawing the Council's attention to th* 1 continual damage that, is being done to footpaths, roads, and private property by the flooding of the creek at Lansdowne. It, was decided that Crs Welch and Harris, with the County Engineer, should go into the matter and report to the next meeting of the Council.
