BRITAIN AND JAPAN.
Received May 12, 4.37 p.m. LONDON, May 11. Sir Edward Grey entertained Prince Fushimi at a banquet. Besides other members of the Government there were present: — Lord Lansdowne, Lord Roberts and Admiral Sir John Fisher. Sir Edward Grey emphasised the community of spirit and the intentions Anglo- Japanese Alliance. Should all others having interests in the Far East adopt each in its' own way the same policy, then, indeed, would stability be secured, and being conscious of a community of interests and general goodwill among all the world, it would make peace pleasant and acceptable to everyone. Prince Fushimi, in responding, dwelt upon the special friendship of the twonatibns, and remarked that the maintenance of the cordial relations was happily in the keeping of able and tried hands.
