THE MISSING TOURIST.
By Telegraph—Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 11. Regarding the tourist missing from the Lakes dislrict, Inspector Mitchell states that a man went inland from the head of Wakatipu on the Bth ultimo, against the advice ol residents of Queenstown. The police were informed on the 29th that he was missing. A party of Invereargill sportsmen, on their return to Queenstown from Lake Mavora on May 6th, stated that they found on the Te Anau route a camp a fortnight ago, one and a half mile from the Government hut, which is situated ten or twelve miles from the mouth of the Greenstone River. The supposition is that the man lost his way between the camp and the hut. Another, party, ,who returned from Martin's Bay said that there was no trace of the man on the Milford track, as the country was blocked and a portion was now under snow. The residents consider that a search party would be useless. The missing man was eccentric.
