POSITION OF COPPER.

SPECULATION FOR A FALL RISKY. Received April 8, 9.13 a.m. LONDON, April 7. Copper is quoted at £96 5s on the spot; three months, £97. Vivian Young and Bond report that the position of copper is apparently due to the assumption that trade generally has reached its high-water mark, and that there will be later a gradual overtaking of requirements by production, and a conesquent lowering of values. But the surplus will not be large*for a long time, while in the meantime stocks are small, and as the|reversal of the position must be gradual, speculators for a fall run heavy risks.
