FOOTBALL.
The Red Star and Masterton Clubs held a combined practice on the showgrounds, on Saturday afternoon. Teams were selected by Darvill and Duggan, and the game resulted in a win for the former's team by 14 points to 12. Good form was shown by Wrigley (who scored three tries), Darvill, Adams, J. O'Leary, Dorsett, Wickens, Mackellar, Corbett, Lyall, Norman and Duggan. At the annual meeting of the Mangatainoka Football Club, the election of officers resulted as follows: — Patron, Mr S. Bolton; president, Mr T. Raynor; vice-presidents, Messrs A. Barrell, H. Cowan, G. W. Chatwin, A. McPherson, J. H. James, R. Crarer, C. Beetham, J. Hill, C. Luke, D. Baillie, and E. Ashby; secretary and treasurer, Mr F. Bray; captain, W. Baillie; vice-captain, E. Harvey; management committee, Messrs W. Baillie, F. Bray, W. Brightwell, H. Harvey, and E. Sharp; selection committee, Messrs T. Raynor, W. Baillie, C. Harvey; delegate?, 'Messrs F. Bray and W. Brightwell. It was decided that only a junior team be nominated for the championship.
