MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The usual meeting of the Mauriceville County Council was" held on Saturday. Present—Crs F. W. H. .. Kumrner (chairman), C. Churchill Jackson, T. H. J. Dagg, and J. F. Heckler. Correspondence was received from Messrs Coradine and "Whittafcer stating that the watertables ou the portion of Mount Bruce road under their charge had been •cleaned out preparatory to repairs being effected to the road, and that these will be attended to as early as possible; from Mr Lars Larsen resigning his position of toll-keeper. In consideration of the many occasions on which the Council makes use of the Mauriceville West Post Office it was resolved to donate £1 towards ' the sum being subscribed to supple-' ment the salary of the postmistress. Cr Dagg gave notice that he will move at > next meeting that Cr Heckler be granted six months' leave of absence in view of his intended visit to Great Britain. Instructions were given to the overseer to have the work of erecting the bridge on the Toll-gate Road put in hand at •once, and a horse track cleared ' round the slip on the Mangaoronga Eoad. It was reported that Mr Wrightson was willing to make an •agreement allowing road metal to J, .; be ,taken frontf-hia section on Mangamahoe Road, * provided he is guaranteed the occupation of Reserve No. 17 for a long period. Accounts amounting to £409 8s 2d were passed for payment.
