MAKAKAHI RIVER BRIDGE.
The committee appointed by the Mauriceville County Council to deal with the proposed bridge at Kaiparoro, over the Makakahi River, reported to the meeting of the Council on Saturday, that a truss bridge would cost about £7OO and a suspension bridge £SOO. The Government grant of £250 would, therefore, require to be subsidised by at least an equal amount, if the work is to be carried out. Cr Wall, and Cr Falkner, of Eketahuna, will call a meeting of any ratepayers in either County who may be interested in the bridge, with a view to obtaining an expression of opinion regarding the raising of the sum required for the work.
