CASTLEPOINT COUNTY COUNCIL.
' The ordinary meeting of the Cas"tlepoint County Council was held on Saturday last. Present:—Crs Langdon (chairman), Bennett, Richardscn, Foreman and Innes. Apologies were received from Crs Speedy and Ryder. A subscription list for the Seddon Memorial Fund was received from the committee with a request that the County be canvassed for subscriptions. The Wellington Charitable Aid Board furnished a statement of accounts and amounts payable by the several contributing local bodies for the ensuing year. The Stock Inspector advisad that a noxious weed (St. John's wort) was present in the County, and requested that steps be taken to prevent it spreading. The Department of Roads advised that certain votes had elapsed, as the work had not been commenced prior to March 9th. They could be renewed on application if approved. The Clerk was directed to apply to have them renewed. Councillor Bennett moved to have St, John's wort placed on the first schedule of the Act. The motion was lost. The Clerk was directed to • apply to the Department for a specimen of the weed. The Clerk was directed to request the Minister of Public Works to issue authority to Mr Carroll to make a traverse survey of the road to connect the Tinui Valley road with the road coming from Pakowai and Waihoki. The Treasurer reported a credit -balance of £823 9s lOd, and accounts ■ were passed for payment amounting to £495 17s 6cL
