ATROCITIES IN THE CONGO.

Received March 8, 8.18 a.m. LONDON, March 7. The National Council of Evangelical Free Churches unanimously condemned the barbarities in the Congo Free State, and resolved not to rest until the evils disgracing humanity have been ended. The council also urged the rejection of any scheme of Belgian annexation of the Congo Free State which leaves a vestige of personal control in King Leopold's hands. (It was recently proposed to appoint a Parliamentary Commission in Beligum to report on the question of annexation of the Congo Free State. This proposal was attributed chiefly to Sir Edward Grey's warning of the ultimate consequences of King Leopold's private administration.)
