J. C. WILLIAMSON'S NEW DRAMATIC COMPANY.
"The Squaw Man" will be presented by Mr J. C. Williamson's New Dramatic Company, on Monday evening next, at the Town Hall. A contemporary says: "Mr Edward Milton Royle is the author, and he is himself a Westerner who has spent much of his life on ranches. He knew exactly what he was writing about, and his experience has enabled him to give His drama 'atmosphere' that intangible something which vivifies a play. Australians, critics and public alike, hailed it as the best, as it was the newest, American drama, and Mr Williamson found that in it he had one of the big dramatic sensations of the year. Certainly no truer picture of Western life has been shown on the stage in Australasia, and its second act alone, a scene in a typical frontier saloon frequented by cowboys and desperadoes, ought to be sufficient to carry it to success. As a drama it is intensely interesting. Its situations are new and its language is the simple direct speech of the W est > brightened—not obscured—by the picturesque 'slang' of the cowboy." The company engaged to support Mr Chas. Waldron and Miss Ola Humphrey is one of Jthe strongest yet organised for a dramatic production. An important member of the cast is Mr Hardie Kirkland, who will appear as Tabywana, a chief of !the Utes. Miss Florrie Gleeson will play the Indian girl whom the "Squaw Man" marries. The box plan is open at Miss Rive's.
