IKAROA LAND BOARD.
SITTING IN MASTiSRTON. A sitting of thu Ikaroa DiatrSotr, Maori Lund Board was held in tiho Courthouse, Mnsterton, yesterday,, when matters connooted with fcba Maori lands ia the district were dealt with. The Board comprised' Judge R. 0. Sim, President, aad Messrs P. Sheridan aud Ihaia Hu* tana.
Kakiwhata Peetl, on bahalf of himself and another, nppplied to have the restrictions removed from a blook of 1,700 aoree, Maugatainoka J, No. 1. He stated that his share of the laud, whioh was leasehold, was 2yy aores, and was grassed and fenced, and parti# ploughed. The Board decided to recommend that the restrictions on the land be removed on condition that the price paid for the luod was not less than the Government lt*nd tax valuation.
An application was made on behalf of Erina Nini and another for thoremoval of restrictions in part fclook Mangatamoka K, No, 2b. The Board agreed to recommend the removal of the restrictions on the same conditions as the preceding application.
Mr 0. A." Pownall, on bnbalf of ' Mr A. Tinsley. appliod to abandon an old lease of lot 1, No. 107, Manaia Native Reserve, belonging to Otene Kuku Karaitiana and others, and obtain a new lease for 21 years at a rental of £65 per year. The price paid under the old lease was £lO per year. Ihe board reserved its decisiou until after its meeting in Wellington. Mr B. J. Dolan applied for the issue of recommendations for the removal of restrictions on lot 4, Manaia, ana 14b Akura, for the purposes of sales from loi Taajati and others, and Whaitiri Waimarama to Mr Jas. Gill and Mr Martin Kerins, respectively. The applications were granted subject to the purchase money being not less than the Government valaatiou. Mr R. ft. Tate made application for recommendations tor consent to sales of blocks No. 12 Pukengaki and No. G Pahaoa, owned by H. T. Whatahoro and Iraia ta Whaiti and others, respectively. The Board reserved its decision. On behalf of Para One Paboro, Mr W. G. Beard applied to have the restrictions rem o red from block Pukflngaki, No 2, for sule purposes. He made similar applications Honcerning blook Pukengaki, No. 20, on behalf uf Kuka to Ana;blook Tutaebaohao, No. 4, on behalf of Okeroa Kirinamu and others, and section 884 Wharearaa on behalf of Pahara Te Tau. Mr. Beard also applied for the transfer olf the leases of blocks 2 and 3, Ngapuketaurua, on behalf of J. H. Tatbam, and blocks No. la and 2b, Okurupatu, on behalf of M. pameroa and W. Cameron, respectively. Decision was reserved. Application for the removal of restrictions for sale purposes ou blocks Nos. 3, 8 and la, Pukengaki, were made by\ II Parata, ana in each case the s ßoard reserved its decision until the titles of the land were enquired into.
Tho Board then adjourned and will meet again at Wellington on January Btb.
