STREET EXTENSION.
BOROUGH COMMITTEE'S J RIkfoMMENDATIONS*
A committee, consisting of Ors v Feist, Ewingtoii and Morris, re : ported to the meeting of the Master ton Borough .Council last evening that they had visited Makora Street ■ and had interviewed Messrs Billing -ton and Allaworth regarding the land for the extension of Herbert •Street to Makora Street. The replies , received from those owners were submitted. In addition, it was stated that Mrs Billington had <>olfered a portion of her land for the widening of Makora Street. Mr W. Allswortb stated that be was prepared to let the Oounoil have ia portion of his land for the purpose of making' a pew road between Oolomba Road and Street on oondition that tbe Oounoil paid -a certain sum, shifted back the fences/fenced off the road and .made the road. Mr Allswortb reserved the right to remove all the 'buildings standing on the land to be taken for a road. Mr P. Billingtpn agreed to give "a "portion ofjbis land for extending Herbert Street into Makora Street, •on condition that the CounoiJ paid a specified sum, and put up new wiifl fences with gatss where necessary, and form footpathson both sides of the street. ; Mrs A. Billington would give 16ft <6in of her land fronting Makora Street for tbe purpose of widening the street if the Council would pay compensation for tbe loss of bar orchard, and eraot a pioket fence along her boundary. The report was adopted, after discussion, on oondition that there were .sufficient funds in band to carry out the work.
