STEAMER ASHORE.

WELLINGTON, Nov. 27. The Frenob steamer Briez Hael, '4,845 tons, bound from Valparaiso to bydney, is ashore in Wellington Barbour. The vessel entered the harbour at 2 o'clock this morning, apparently for coal. She dropped anchor, which failed to hold, and the vessel drifted ashore on a reof in the vicinity of ahelly Bay, near Point Halswell, on the south side of the harbour. Tugs huve gone to her assistance. The vessel lien in an exposed position, close in shore, and a strong northerly gale ia blowing down on her. Iho crew are safe. It ifi expected an attempt will be made to tow tha vessel off nt high ■water—shortly after ono o'clock.
