MASTERTON GYMNASIUM.
The annual modal comnetitions in connection with the Masterton Gymnasium were oommenced yesterday. In the afternoon the boy'a competition was held, and some very good work was shown. The men's oompe tition was held in the evening, and resulted in a win for Mr A. 0. Williams who scored 97% points oat of a possible 108. He went through his work very neatly, especially the apparatus work. Mr Williams wins the championship trophy valued at £5 ss, and the medal presented by Mr Van Stavereu. Messrs J. G. Elliot and A. (J. Williams were the judges in the boys' competition, and Messrs J. (a. Elliot and W. Lambie in the men's competition. The following are the prize-winners: Small boys: H, Terry, 33}4 points, 1; K. Curtis, 33% points, 2; P. Wimsett, 29% points, 3. Older boys: P. *ly, 55% points, 1; P. Jackson, 55% points, 2; J, Bwiogton, 55 points, 3. Men's: A. 0. Williams, 97% points, 1; B. Donald, 80 points, 2; W. Williame, 86 points, 3. 'ibis evening the girl's and ladies' competitions will commence at 6.30 o'clock and 7.30 o'olook respectively. Messrs «T. G. Elliot and W. Lumbie will act as judges.
