DISTRESS IN IRELAND.
LONDON, Ootober 18.
Mr Bryoe, Chiet Secretary for Ireland, replying to a deputation in connection with the partial failure of the potuto orop in the West of Ireland, said experience bad convinced every one that in dealing with distress in Ireland it was dungerona to institute public works merely /or the sako of relief. If they must institute sucb their permanent value to the neighbour hood must be considered.
