PRACTICE ROOM FOR THE BAND.
A DEPUTATION WAIT ON THE BOROUGH COUNCIL. A deputation from the Maaterton Munioipal Braes Band waited rn the Borough Council, last evening, and asked the Council's support in obtaining a suitable practice room. Mp P. L. Holiings aaid that the Band did not expect the Council to erect a building for them, but the Band thought (hat the Council might alios® them to hare a room in the Druid's Hall for practising. As an alternative the Council might see its way to lease to the Band a piece of land adjacent to ihe Park or some other suitable place on which the Band could erect a suitable practioe room. Councillors generally condemned the Druid's Hail as a practice room, and were in favour ot assisting the Band to obtain a suitable building for practising. It was deoided to consider the matter at the meeting on Friday evening.
