PROPOSED NEW STREET.
FROM CHAPEL STREET TO DIXON STREET. Messrs W. B. Chennells and L. J. Hooper waited on the Mastertoh Borough Oounoil, last evening, with reference to opening up n new street between Dixon and Chapel Streets through Queen Street. TLe deputation pointed out that between Bannister Street and Worksop Road and Perry and Renall Streets there was no street running from Queen into Chapel or Dixon Streets, They suggested that a street might b« made from;Ohapel Street to Dixon Street through Queen Street; on one side adjacent to Mr Stempa's butober shop, and on the other side between Messrs Ogilvy and Son's shop and Mr R. E. J ones' shop. It was pointed out that the town was going ahead rapidly and every vacant section in Queen Street wa9 being built on, and it would be advisable to decide to take the lqnd mentioned in Queen Street before any buildings were erected on it. With regard to the width of the proposed road, it was suggested that if the road could not be made 66ft wide the Oounoil might arrange to have it made of a less width. Several Councillors spoke very favourably on the matter, and thought that such a street was absolutely necessary.
It was decided to consider the matter at a meeing of the Oounoil on Friday evening. The Council requested Messrs Chennells and Hooper to endeavour to ascertain at what price the land through which the proposed street would pass could be purchased and obtain pther information on the subject.
