Takingjjadvantage of the presenoa in Dunedin of the captain and crew of the Port Stephens,' inquiries were made by the police as to whether John Findlay, now under arrest in connection with the Papakaio tragedy, had ever been a membet of tbe crew. Findlay had made an assertion to that effect to a grocer's carter, named Stook. The caDtain and orew are positive that Findlay was not a member of tbe orew of the Port Stephens.
