ladies' representative MATCH. WAIRARAPA v. WELLINGTON. The Wellington ladies' junior representatives played tbe return match with the Wairarana ladies' junior team on tbe School-ground yesterday. The visitors won by 2 goals to 1. The following were the teams:— i Wairarapa.—Goalkeeper, Mish Millar; fullbacks, Missis 13. Easthope and McJKenzie; halves, Messrs MoHattie. Barnett, and Jenkinson; forwards, Misses Barker (captain), Hourigan, C. Easthope, Dean and Richards. Wellington. —* Goalkeeper, Miss Munro; Inllbaoks, Misses Joil and Batkin; halves, Misses Johnston, Dean and Doughty; forwards, Misses Knox, Faulk, Giasgow (captain), Holmes, and Waterhouae. The play throughout the first spelt was of a rather even nature. Both teams were playing good hookey, but it was noticeable that Wellington bad the best combination. The Wairarapa forwards had a tendenoy to run back too much, and thus unnecessarily tire themselves. The visitors' wings played tbe ball into the centre of the field nicely, and they followed up well. Though the Wairarapa backs were kept busy at frequent stages during the spell, they auquitted themselves very oreditatly. Miss Millar, the goalkeeper, put in some splendid work, saving her side on a number of occasions. The home forwards played brilliantly at times, and on one ocoasion Miss Richards went very near obtaining a goal. She took tbe ball from the centre of the field, and Bhot a lovely goal, but unfortunately for her side she made the stroke from a few inches outside the oircle. At the end of the first spoil □either side had scored. Play in the second spell was very open, the ball being sent up and down the field very frequently. The visitors showed better combination in the seoond spell, and in their forward play there was a general improvement. Two goals sooted for Wellington by Misses Faulk and Glasgow were tbe results of good combined play. The houie team might have been able to prevent these goals being scored if they had not crowded on to the goalkeeper. Wairarapa's only goal was scored by Miss 0. Richards, This player took the ball from the wing and uentred it. She then followed up and hit it to the circle, finally sooring a flue goal. Among tbe visiting team Misses Glasgow and Waterhouse were very noticeable in the forwards for good work, and Miss Batkin in tbe bucks. For the home team-Miss Millar, the goalkeeper, played a sterling game. Misses Easthope asd Jenkinson also played well in the backs. Among tbe forwards Misses Hourigan and Richards were the pick. Mr F.. Richards was referee. The visitors were entertained by the home team at lunch and afternoon tea atthp Ranfurly Club, and they speak in high terms of the hospitablu treatment tbey received from tbe Wairarapa Association. I
1 KIA KAHA A v. KIA KAHA B. Tbe Kia Kaba A team met tbeir first defeat this snason, yesterday afternoon, when they were beateu by tbe Kia Kaba B team by 2 goals to nil. The game was played on tba Sohoolgrouud, which was in first-class order. On the day the B team was mtioh superior to the A team in every deoartment, and bad tbeir forwards hit more freely when in the oi ole tbe soore must have been a great deal more iu tbeir favour. Both their goals were the result of good individual efforts on tbe part of Taylor. This player and N. Hooper played well in fibo forwards, while Oarley played a' splendid back game. Nicol, Denton and Thomson also played well for the winners. The A team seemed to become completely disorganieed in the seound spell, and bad a lively time defending their goal. Thoy certainly bad some obauoos to score, but the forwards did not seem to put any energy into their strokes, the result being tbafc the goalkeeper (Hatch) had no difficulty in clearing. Mr S. Noble-Campbell was referee.
