Brown, who was arrested for the murder of Mr and Mrs O'Keefe and Gillick (an employee) at their farm at Ballina on Sunday night, is reported to have tcld Sergeant Kane that he committed the murders with the idea of getting money to start a revolution in order to secure a White Australia. RECIPROCITY TREATY, Received July 18, 9.40 a.m. MELBOURNE-, July 18. In the Federal House of Representatives, Mr Deakin, the Federal Premier, stated, in reply to a question, that owing to the death of Mr Seddon, the Federal Government had been requested by his surviving oolleagues to allow the publication of the reciprocity treaty between Australia and New Zealand to await a further opportunity owing to their not having received the late Mr Seddon's papers when the New Zealand House of Representatives was sitting. Mr Deakin added that as soon as New Zealand was ready to make public the convention, it would be laid on the table of the Federal Parliament. (It was agreed by the latevPremier and Mr Deakiu that copies of the treaty should be simultaneously laid on the tables of the New Zealand and Commonwealth Parliaments).
