CARTERTON, June 12. A native named Taka Hemi was pioked up, this morning, with his neck broken, on the road between Tuhirangi and Pirinoa. It is supposed that he was thrown from a horse. Deceased was * well-known footballer.

(j IS BORNE, June 12. Upon a warrant issued nearly 14 years ago, a Gisborne resident, named Joliu Harold Dixon, has been arresfcud, and oharged with alleged fulno pretences. He is a resident of Benhar, near Balclutlm.
AN EARTHQUAKE! SHOCK.
GISBORNE, June 12. A long sustained earthquake shock was experienced here at. 7.35 o'clock this morning.
