EKETAHUNA COUNTY COUNCIL.

(From Our Own Correspondent).

A meeting of the Eketahuna County Council was held en Saturday last. There were present—Ors Mobs (chairman), Kedpath, Falkner, Dorney, Lowes, Davey, Griffith, Pitoaithley and Dawson. It was decided that the fenoe line on the Cemetery Road, Newman, be left in the bands of the Chairman and the overseer to attend to. It was resolved that the complaint of Mr HaEtwell be referred to the Town Board. The overseer was instructed to report to the next meeting on tne reserve at Newman across the Makakabi River, with a view to leasing the same. On the motion of Cr Kedpath, seobnded by Or Pitcaitbley, the resignation of A. Hunter was accepted. It was decided that the disposal of timber and the whare at the Hamua Bridge be left to the overseer t;o deal with. The Clerk was instructed to take steps to have Giant Burdock and Tawhina put on the noxious weeds schedule. The Clerk was instructed to write to Mr A. W. Hogg, M.H.R, asking aim to endeavour to secure a further grant towards the Hamua Bridge erection. , The matter of granting charitable aid to a widow and family was left to the Chairman and the Clerk. The overseer was instructed to prepare plans of a stock bridge on Mangoane Road, and submit them to the next meeting. The application of A. Barrett for a transfer of a traction engine license to Gardiner Bros, was left in the hands of the Chairman ana Clerk to attend to Or Dawson made an explanation of the cost of the Hamua Bridge to which exception had been taken by Mr Bourke of Hamua. Or Dawson was accorded a vote of thanks for the time he had given in supervising the work. The oversoer was instructed to report to the next meeting on the work done by Messrs Gardiner Bros, in road repairs in the County. The overseer was also instructed to interview Mr Bell, of Nireaha, regarding a tram bridge near bis property. The question of shifting the pound or rebuilding the same* was left to Crs Lowes and Falkner and the overseer.

On the motion of Or Dorney, seconded by Cr Griffith, it was decided to ask the Government to complete the metalling on the Putara Road.

It was deoided to add a room to the Road Board office at a cost not to exceed £3O.
