A BATTLESHIP ASHORE.

The battleship Montagu is ashore at Shutter Point, Devonshire. The acoident occurred in a fog.

It is reported that the warship is badly damaged. Assistance has been sent. The crew is safe.

PROBABLY BECOME A TOTAL WRECK.

LONDON, May 30, The Montagu is badly torn, and filled with water.

It is feared she will baoome a total wreck.

The officers and crew have landed.

(The Montagu has a displacement of 14,000 tons, and was built at Devunport in 1903. She haa a complement of 750 men).

SHIP LOST AT SEA

Lloyd's agent Ht Valparaiso reports that the ship Lismore, from Melbourne to Coronel (Chili) fc was totally lost at sea. The first 'officer and three men have landed at Llico (a seaport in Chili). It is feared the rest are lost.

TWENTY-TWO DROWNED.

A vessel supposed to be the Lismore is stranded at Santa Maria Island, Ohili. \ Twenty-two of the oreu were drowned.

RUSSIAN STEAMER CAPSIZES.

SIXTY-FIVE PEOPLE DROWNED.

Received May 31, 8.31 a.m. ST. PETERSBURG, May 30. _ A Russian steamer capsized in the Gulf of Riga. Sixty-five people were drowned.
