ST. PATRICK'S DAY SPORTS ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE . COMMITTEE. A meeting of the Executive Committee of the St. Patrick's Day Sports Association was held on Saturday evening. There were present—Messrs M. 0. O'Connell (in the chair), B. J. Dolan, J. Falooner, A. Haugbey, F. Haugbey, and E. G. Williams. Mr B. Chapman wrote resigning his position on the Executive Committee, as he was now residing in New Plymouth. The resignation j was aocepted. The Town Clerk wrote with refer-1 ence to improving the cycle track on the Park Oval, the coat of which is estimated at £230. The question was fully discussed, and members expressed the opinion that they did not consider that the various sports societies should be oalled upon to bear tb.B greater portion of the oost.' They considered the work a public one, aad thatitshuuld be carried out by the municipal body. Finally, on ihe motion of Mr Dolan, it was decided "that the Society would not contribute to the oost of any proposed oyole tract on the Park, except on condition that the money they contributed was taken as rent paid ia advanoe for the use of the Park; or, in the alternative, the! Sooiety would be prepared to pay an increased rental if the work were carried out by the Borough Council." Messrs Dolan, F. Haughey and Falconer were appointed a committee to wait on the Counoil at their meeting, to-morrow evening, in connection with the matter. The programme which had been drawn up for the concert on June 4th was approved of.
