EMPIRE DAY IN ENGLAND.
THE LORD MAYOR'S RECEPTION. LONDON, May 25. Fifteen, hundred people attended the Lord Mayro's reception at Mansion House in honour of Empire Day, including Lords Meath, Onslow, and Strathcona, and Sir Joseph Ward, Hon. W. P. Reeves, Mr Justice Williams, of New Zealand, and Bishops Montgomery and Neville, and many other leading colonists. At the Canadian dinner to celebrate the day, Mr Taverner, AgentGeneral for Victoria, proposed the toast of "The EmDire." Lord Carrington responded.
