N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.
MAURIGEVILLE BRANCH. (Prom Ottr Own Correspondent) The annual meeting of tbe Maurj iceville Branch of the New Zealand I Farmers' Union was held in the County Offloe on Saturday evering and was attended by twelve members. Mr J. 0. Cooper occupied tbe ohair. The Secretary read tbe balance sheet, showing a credit balance of £8 4s 7d, which was considered satisfactory. The balance sheet was unan v imously adopted. Messrs J. 0. Cooper and P. W. H. Kummer were elected chairman and secretary, respectively, for the ensuing year. Mr Kummer was also elected delegate to tbe Provincial Conference which opens at Pahiatua on 29th inst. It was resolved to levy subscriptions on the same graduated scale as in previous years, viz., farm hands 2s 6d, up to 50 acres 4s, u to 100 aores ss, up to 8s for 1,000 acres and 10s for anyone holding over 1,000 acree. Un the motion of Mr T. T. Hilias, seoonded by Mr E. Pedersen, the sum of £5 was donated to the Provincial Executive Organising Fund. The following resolutions were passed for the delegate to move at the Provincial Conference: 1. "That all motor cars and motor oyoles should be registered and compelled to oarry a number." 2. "That the Railway Department be requested to run aa many as practicable exclusively fat etook trains during the busy season." The Chairman addressed tbe meeting on various matters of interest, and a very enthusiastic meeting was broufht to a close by the usual vote of thanks to the Chairman, and also the Secretary for his past year's services. {.
