DEATH IN AVONDALE ASYLUM.

AUCKLAND, April 18. At the Avondale Mental Hospital, a few days ago. a female patient was about to bo given a bath when tbe attendant was celled away and loft the patient in charge of another patient. Unfortunately, the nurse, it is stated, did Dot luck up the hot water taD, and during her brief absence tbe second patient turned it on and scalded the other. On noticing her mistake she turned off the hot water and turned on the cold. When the aurse returned, cold water was running. Tbe patient was severely scalded, and in spite of the assistance rendered by Dr MoKelvey, act-ing-medical superintendent, she died next day. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was recorded, the jury finding that no blame attached to any one.
