OPAKI QUOIT CLUB.
(Spacial to Ago) The monthly gathering |of the Opaki Quoit Club was held at Mr a. Cham certain's Miki Miki centre, on Saturday last. The attendance of ladies was especially good, but as the weather has been so unfavourable for harvesting operations, a number of the men took advantage of the fine day pitching sheaves instead of quoits. The monthly contests resulted aa follow:—Seniors: D. McKeuzie 1, H. Duckett 2, E. Petersen 3. Juniors: G. Pain 1, Basil Campbell 2, A. Petersen 3. The ladies played the handicap game for Mr W. Boyd's trophy, which resulted in a win for Miss Wyeth, Mrs Searle being second. A Challenge Cup has been instituted, to be conducted on the same lines as the Challenge Chain of the previous year. Play Was commenoed for Mr Wyeth's medal, and will be a lengthy game, as there will be 29 competing, each \ before finishing having to meet each competitor. The one scoring the most points will be the winner. Mrs Wyeth's gold brooch is being played for in a similar manner by the ladies. \ Mr H. Cranny, who was present at the monthly match, kindly donated a trophy for the player socring second in the medal competition, and Mr 0. Pain donated a Honolulu curio in the form of a bag, to bd competed for by tne ladies at the next contest. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to the donors and also to the ladies who served afternoon tea. During the afternoon Mr D. McKenzie, Vice-President, presented Mr? Searle with the trophy, given by Mr Iveson. The following are the handicaps for Mr Wyeth s Medal Competition: —Searle,. McKeuzie, and R. Hunt owe 10, Christensen and E. Petersen owes 8, R.
