THE POLICE FORCE.
WELLINGTON, February 12. In accordance with the recommendation of the recent Police Commission, the following promotion* and transfers have been decided upon by Commissioner Dinne;—SubInspector Black, transferred from Auckland to Dunedin; Sub-Inspector Green, transferred from Dunedin to Timaru; Sergeant Douglas Gordon, Mount Cook Training Depot, promoted to be Sub-Inspector, and transferred to Auokland. The following have been appointed station Sergßants:—Sergeant Thomas King, Oamaru, and transferred to Dunedin; Sergeant Samuel P. Norwood, Wanganui and transferred to Christchurch; aergeant Chas. Wm. Hendry, Newton, aad transferred to Auckland; Sergeant Wm. Jno. Phair, Rotorua, and transferred to Wellington; promotions to Sergeants— Conslable Michael Murphy, Wellington; Constable Thos. Barrett, Waimate; Constable D. D. Button, Johnsonville; 1 Constable James Black, Marton. N
