FATAL ACCIDENT.
NELSON, February 12. A miner named. Samuel Latfcimer was killed in his olaim at Rocky River, in the Collingwood district, on Saturday morning by a fall of stone from the roof of a tunnel. Bis mate, naired Keane, narrowly escaped, receiving a severe blow on the head. The two were standing together lighting candles preparatory to work when the accident occurred. Latsimer was crushed to death instantly. At the inquest a verdict —-returned that death was due to iUmiucient timbering in the drive. Deceased, whose age was si, was well known in the district.
