THE SCOW OBAN.

WELLINGTON, Jan. 17. The inquiry into the sinking of the scow Oban at the Wellington Heads on the night of December 31st was held to-day by Dr McArthur, S,M. Captains Post and Savoy were the assessors. The evidence given Was generally in accordance with the statements made at the time of the mishap. The master of the tug Duoo stated that he did not hear any voices from tne scow after dark. His theory was that one of the scow's anchors carried away, and when it took the bottom the vessel's bows were submerged, the crew being then washed overboard. Evidence was given that the Oban was well found and seaworthy. The Court intimated that it would give its decision next morning.
