MANGAROA SCHOOL PRIZE LIST.

Owing to precautions in connection with the infantile paralysis epidemic, the Mangaroa School's display of work, prize giving and concert has been cancelled, so the school committee has decided to present the gift books, Honours and Merit Certificates at the annual picnic which will be held in February. The following special prizes, together with the five Proficiency Certificates, have been forwarded by post: First prize from Junior Red Cross Society Headquarters for Minutes Competition, Ngaire Maher; prizes for writing -won at Carterton and Palmerston North A. and P. Shows, Phyllis Scholes and Vera Coate; honours certificates, Irene Knox, Ngaire Maher, Phyllis Scholes, Vera Coate, Alfred Knox; prize for health ladder competition, "Vera Coate (prize donated by patron of local Junior Red Cross Circle) ; Good Attendance Certificates, Vera Coate, Clinton Scholes, Alfred Knox.

On December 15 a pleasant little function took place when a deputation of parents presented the teacher, Miss M. Ross, 8.A., with a handsome gift as a token of appreciation from the parents and children.
