PLUNKET SOCIETY.
The monthly meeting of the Upper Hutt Plunket Society was held on Tuesday last. In the absence of the President (Mrs. Barkley Smith) the chair was taken by Mrs. Balcombe Brown. Before the business of the afternoon commenced, the members stood in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of His late Majesty King George V. Miss Armstrong (Plunket nurse), presented lnei- report on her work in the district for the last two months, as follows:-—New cases, 12; visits to homes, 140; visits to Plunket Rooms, 505. Proceeds from the recent Carnival amounted to £43 13s. 2d. The art union (supper cloth) -was won by E. Doriken, Lower Hutt, the winning number being No. 312. This effort alone raised £l2 2s. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to all who had assisted the committee in their efforts to raise funds, and also to the public for their generous support. As can be seen by the above report the Plunket Society are doing excellent work, and Nurse Armstrong is kept very busy in the district.
