Local News
The Upper Hutt Borough Council has changed their meeting nights to Mondays, starting- from the 17th inst. An event of some importance to the residents of Upper Hutt is Hazlewood's Summer Sale, commencing Saturday, 15th. On page 4 of this issue a comprehensive list of bargains offered by this progressive firm should be read with interest. Hazlewood's are making a genuine attempt to reduce their stocks in order to make room for new shipments coming to hand. A drastic reduction of prices is the result. Local residents are reminded that the Upper Hutt Branch of the Red Cross Society are holding a Fair on February 29, in the school grounds, also a Leap Year Dance at night in the Record Hall. It is to be hoped that as many as possible will attend these functions as the Society is doing splendid work in the district. There will be Aunt Sally, hoopla, cocoanut shies, games and competitions, and a fish pond for the kiddies. The Upper Hutt Band will be in attendance. The dance in the evening should draw an excellent crowd, as there will be novelty dances, old time and modern, good prizes, and above all an excellent orchestra. The Upper Hutt Rifle Club will be shooting in the Union Shield Match this week-end at Trentham.
