RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT, LAWRENCE.

(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., R.M.) Friday, 19th February, 1875.

Peter Anderson was charged with lunacy. It appeared that he was possessed of a considerable sum of money, and that he was incapable of taking charge of it, and likely to be imposed upon. This did not seem as though he had no interest in the fence, as in that case he would most likely have said something to the effect that he had nothing to do with it. Another thing was that Fraser admitted, in answer to a question from Mr. M'Coy, that it occurred to him that Draper could not make him pay, as the land was under the deferred payment system, and not in Draper's name. Now, although it was denied that this had ever been mentioned by Fraser, it was curious that a knowledge of this notion should come to the ears of the other side. Judgment for £21 165.. and costs p£ Court,
