"TIMON'S" PRESENT TO THE "DUNSTAN TIMES."

{From our own Correspondent?)

Clyde, January 20.

Last Saturday a little episode occurred just to break the monotony of things in general, and cause a little merriment. A telegram came, stating that a consignment from Timon the Great of patent potent pills to cure. all disorders, and bilious editors in particular. On the arrival of: the telegram the news was at once circulated, and great preparations were made that all honor should be paid to the munificent donor and his valuable present. Consequently the members of the staff of the " Dunstan Times" were marshalled and drilled into what might be termed an awkward squad. Each having his part assigned him, they marched to Cob bs office, and took up their positions j the elder and junior devils each carrying a galley, on which to triumphantly carry' off Tiinon's wonderful nostrum. They had not to wait long before Harry Nettleford hove in sight, tooling four greys in magnificent style. Tho most uninitiated could see from the jolly visage of Harry that something was afloat. The very horses seemed as though they understood the thing, for no sooner had they been brought to a stand than they commenced to neigh lustily. The procession approached the coach when Mr. Nettleford said : Gentlemen, I guess you are down for that sample of famous patent potent pills, therefore, 1 may say that I have taken as much or more care of them than I and Ned Devine took of the tafiut ova. He then produced a box about ftoot long by a depth of 12 inches^ sealed, and bearing a well known monogram a V with a pike or halberd vertically passed through it, and addressed "To the editor of the ' Dunstan Times, ' "* and signed in that well known Boman hand " Timon of modern Athens," with thfe gratifying intelligence that 2s 6d carriage had been paid. The " devils " approached amidst cheers from the multitude ; the box was placed on the galley amidst thunders of applause ; the band struck up some lively airs and the procession commenced to march to the office of the " Dunstan Times." The editor appeared at the door, and received it with all due ceremony; the box and its precious contents were deposited there for safe keeping. Then the assemblage adjourned to host Blues, when the merits of the sugar coated jokers were discussed amidst potent libations of P.B. or colonial ; then dispersed declaring in future Timon's Antibillious Nostrums must be in the ascendant, and Dr. Ayer's totally eclipsed.
