LAWRENCE GRAMMAR SCHOOL ANNUAL EXAMINATION.

The annual public examination or exhibition of the above school took place on Wednesday. The scholars, during the early part of the day, were examined in the various branches taught in the school, and showed a proficiency equal to that of former years. The number of scholars was about the same as at last annual examination. During the day two or three members of the School Committee were present, and in the afternoon a good many of the parents, especially the mothers, visited the school. The prizes, which were of an excellent discription, -were distributed by Mr. Jamison, President of the School Committee, who addressed a few encouraging words to the children. We observed considerable improvement in the singiug, which is no doubt partly attributable to the harmonium accompaniment. The following is a list of donors of books : — Messrs.
