SWITZEES V. TAPANUI.
This match was played at Switzers on the 15th inst., and ended in an easy victory for the Tapanuites. The batting of Mr. Garvey, for Switzers was really splendid, as also the bowling of Mr. Rice. For Tapanui, Messrs. Neville and Buchanan bowled in real good form-; and Messrs. Mooney and Strain ran uy a nice 16 and 14 respectively. I must not comment without mentioning the magnificent manner in which the wickets were kept by Mr. Struth for the Tapanui team. The scores were as follows :—: — IST INNINGS. A. R. The Chairman said he hoped the tables would be turned on visiting the Tapanui ground on the 27th instant. Captain Neville responed in a suitable manner on behalf of the Tapanui team. He expressed the entire satisfaction of the eleven at the day's proceedings, and thanked the Switzerites for their kindness and hospitality. He also complimented his own eleven on their good fielding tliroughont the match. After the toasts of "The Ladies," "The Host," and " The Press " had been duly drank, the whole party adjourned to the nicely decorated ball room, for the purpose of exercising " the light fantastic toe," where all parties amused themselves thoroughly under the surpervisiou of Mr. Blucher, who took upon himself tho position of M.C.; and towards the small hours of the morning, one of the most enjoyable and pleasant cricket matches of the season came to a close.
