WARDEN'S COURT, LAWRENCE.
(Before E. H. Carew, Esq., Warden.) Monday, October 26th. M'-Rae v. Lascoinbe and others. — Complaint that race of defendants had been left altogether unused for a period of more than 18 months, and that the certificate had not been renewed for the same time. Mr. M'Coy appeared for plaintiff, Defendant admitted the facts, but said the race had not been intentionally abandoned, want of water had prevented its being used. The non-renewal of the license was not his fault cither ; he had paid a solicitor to do it, and thought it was done. His worship said that under the present circumstances he would inflict a fine in lieu of forfeiture ; fined 10s, and costs of court £l 19s. George Wilson's application for protection for his claim for 90 days was granted. G. B. King applied for a residence area at the north side of the Wetherston's Sludge Channel. Certificate to be granted for a frontage to main road of 66 feet by a depth 50 feet, as coon as a fence was erected round it. A similar application on the part of Michael Monaghan was similarly dealt with. John M'Coombe applied fer an agricultural leas of section 40, block XVIII., Tuapeka Ea3t. An objection signed by Messrs Moore, M'Hattie, Uren, May and Cooper, on the ground that the gullies were auriferous, was lodged. Mr. M'Coy appeared for the applicant. Adjourned to view the land.
