MR. JAMES LOGAN'S CASE The opinion of the Attorney-General was read in reference to the claim of Mr. James Logan to be declared the purchaser of certain lands in Block 111., Greenvale district.
The facts of the case were briefly that the Government had surveyed a block of land on Mr. Logan's run, with the intention of offering it for sale ; buf; they afterwards altered their opinion and withdrew it. Through some mistake the land was advertised as being open for sale. Mr. Logan then sent in an application for the purchase of that portion of it which has reference to the present case, and contended that, as the land was on his own run, he would give Ins consent to its being sold. On these grounds he asked to be declared the purchaser. The Board refused his application,- and the case was referred to the Attorney-General for his opinion on the case. This opinion was now read, and was against Mr. Logan's view of the matter, the Attorney-General holding that Mr. Logan could not give his consent to the land being sold without having first been asked to do so by those who have the administration of the land laws. He therefore considthat the land had never been actually for sale. APPLICATIONS TO PURCHASE LAND ON GOLD-
