ANNIVERSARY OF THE LOYAL WAITAHUNA LODGE, M.U.I.0.0.F.

The eighth anniversary of the above Lodge was celebrated in the Athenseum Hall, Waitahuna, on Friday evening last. The attendance was hardly up to that of former years, but tho evening's entertainment -was nevertheless a very enjoyable one. The refreshments were supplied Mrs. Walker in her usual excellent styles abundance of good things being provided for at least double the number of people who attended. The tables being cleared, tho band played a selection of choice music, after which N.G. Bro. Eady addressed those assembled, commenting on the continued prosperity of their Order. He then called upon the Secretary, Bro. Wilson, to read the financial statement of their Lodge, which showed a credit balance for the year, and a considerable accumulation from former years. The statement was received with acclamation. Song by Mr. Pelatchie, who rece^^an encore, which was responded to. s P.G. Bro. Phillips proposed the toast o£ "Sister Lodges." Song — " Our week Jock," by Mr. J. M'Kinnon. On being recalled, he gave another humorous Scotch song, entitled " The barrin' o' the door."

N.G. Bro. Walker, of the Tuapeka Pioneer Lodge, responded to the toast of " Sister Lodges." Bro. Bayliss, in a short and pithy address, proposed the toast of "Kindred Societies," which was responded to by CR. Bro. Storey, of Court Havelock, -with the usual accompaniment of Foresters' Fire by the Foresters assembled.

Bro. Bayliss then sang, after which the hall was cleared for dancing, which was kept up with great spirit till early morning, excepting at short intervals for refreshments. The hall, though comfortably filled, was not crowded. The ladies mustered very strong in proportion to the opposite sex. The music was provided by the Waitahuna Quadrille Band. Mr. Brandt officiated as M.C., to the satisfaction of everyone present. The thanks of the visitors are due to the Committee, whose excellent arrangements conduced to the enjoyment of the entertainment
