(From tlie Dunedin Dailies. ) Christchfbch, February 17th. There is great difficulty in obtaining men to represent the province in the Interprovincial boat-race.
Clyde, February 17th. No applications have been received at the District Land Office, Clyde, for the Hawea block.
Wellihgton, February 18th. His Excellency the Governor has arrived in his yacht to-day. A " Gazette Extraordinary," issued to-day has released the members from attendance at Parliament until 30th April next. At a meeting of the New Zealand Coal Company, a resolution in favor of voluntarily winding up was passed. At a sale of saddle hacks to-day, prices ranged from £2 10s. ( to £10, and £15 for better sorts.
February 18th. The highest scores in the cadet firing are: — Hornbrook, 72 ; Dawson, 71 ; Jackson, 64 ; Wood, 52 ; Melton, 51 ; Paritt, 49 ; and Glasson, 48. A new monthly periodical is announced under the title of the "New Zealand Trump." The first number is to be issued in March. The share list of the New Zealand Woollen Company closes in Canterbury on the Ist March, and in other provinces on the 10th. February 19th. The "Gazette" contains a notification that a bonus of sixpence per gallon will be paid on kerosene produced within the colony to an extent not exceeding 50,000 gallons, and on quantities not less than 10,000 gallons at a time. The kerosene must be approved by the Government, aud sold at a fair market price. Mr. Benjamin Smith has been appoinied Auditor of Public Accounts for the Province, in the place of William Dorsett, removed. H.M.S. Blanche has left for Auckland Islands, Antipodes Islands, and Campbell Islands. Afterwards she proceeds to Auckland, and then returns to Fiji. The "toll-gates of the Province have been leased to-day for 'twelve months for £8430. Auckland, February 17th. The Hero arrived from Sydney this morning, which port she left on the 9th inst. February 18th. Sullivan has left Auckland ; but the Government ard police keep "his future movements very secret) and decline to give any information- beyond the statement that he has left the place. It is believed that he has left in the Phoebe for the South to-day. Mr. Alexander Saunders reports-. — Sales — Caledonians, £11; Golden Calf, £1. Gbahamstown, February 18th. A deputation from the Railway Committee proceed to Auckland to-day, to interview the Premier, aud lay before him data urging the construction of the Thames Valley Railway. He will be interviewed to-morrow by appointment.
Taubanoa, February 18th. The Hon. W. Fox is expected overland from Napier. He purposes starting a Good Templar s Lodge. A great native runanga will be held shortly at Ohinemuri, respecting the land question. Mr. Mackay appears on behalf of the Government.
Napier, February 19th. A large grass fire has occurred at Waipawa. Two boys have been severely burnt. One lived only three hours afterwards. Large numbers of carpenters have recommenced work at 12s per day. Several are still out on strike. ' Blenheim, February 19th. The polling here for the Superintendency election is — Seymour, 154; Baillie, -71. The other returns are not in. Sydney, February 9th. At Newcastle a man named Wilcox has been drowned on the beach behind the hospital. He has been a patient. It is supposed he committed suicide while laboring under temporary insanity. In the cricket match All England v. Combined Teams, the English players in their second innings made the splendid total of 236 runs. The Australians only scoring 90, the All England eleven won l>y 217 runs to spare. The crowd crossed the ground, coming in front of the Pavillion, and gave hearty cheers for the players. The English players left at 10 p.m. for Melbourne, but previous to their departure a number of their personal friends met at the Metropolitan Hotel, where they were staying, and wished them God speed in brimming cups until the time came for going on board.
Melbourne, February Bth. It is anticipated the Border Revenue will be very small for the next six months, as the squatters at Riverina are fully supplied. Captain Stanley, Admiralty Surveyor, reports that great changes arejtaking place in the West Channel, about the Pile light to the right of Royal George Bank, Q,ueenscUff. A splendid shipment of valuable greyhounds has arrived for Tasmania.
Dr. Valentine has applied for a mandamus to compel Bishop Bromby to prosecute the Rev. Mr. Barkway for Ritualistic practices, but, the Court has taken time to consider before giving judgment. Brisbane, [February Bth. 143^ tons of tin have been received from Warwick this week.
Adelaide, February Bfch. The Evangelical Alliance set apart Sunday, loth February, for a harvest thanksgiving service.
Last week's exports (breadstuffs) amounted to 3000 tons.

London February 7th. The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, accompanied by several members of the Russian Court, have arrivsd at Moscow.
The German Parliament wa3 opened by the Imperial speech which expresses confidence in the efforts of the Great Powers to maintain peac<\ Alderman Cotton, Messrs. Hubbard, and twelve conservatives, and the Right Hon. G. J. Goschen, have been returned for the City of London. Two Conservatives have been returned for Westminster. For the electorates of Chelsea, Marylebone, Southwai'k, and Tower Hamlets, Messrs Ayrton, Fawcett, and Jacob Bright were defeated, and Mr. Thomas Hughes retired. Mr. Roebuck has been re-elected for Sheffield, and the Marquis of Hartington for Radnor. 430 members have teen returned up to the present. The Conservatives gain a gross majority of 61 seats. In twenty-four instances Liberals have been ousted from their seats and Conservatives returned. It is said that Mr. Gladstone will resign.
