Second Day.

A Blight shower during the afternoon drove the visitors to shelter for a few minutes, but it only lasted long enough to lay the dust and cool the air. catch weights. Several horses started for this race. Mr. A. J. M'Pherson's Gamecock, ridden by Monaghan, was the winner. As the result of this race, the handsome sum of £9 goes to the funds of the Tuapeka Hospital. A trotting match between Rambler and Tommy was run in the afternoon, Rambler, ridden by Mr. A. M'Pherson, won easily. This concluded a pleasant meeting. Every one was well satisfied. Mr. Carlaw officiated as starter, ; Mr. A. M'Pherson took the place of Mr. R. M'Leod as clerk of the course; and K. M'Lennan, Esq v acted as judge. Each gentleman performed his arduous task in a manner that met with the approbation of all concerned.
